Manage Engagements

• A client engagement is a billable unit of work.
• After the first client engagement, a planner may be asked to create new or revised financial plans or assessments for a client. For example, a new or revised financial plan or assessment may be required each year. Each of these yearly planning efforts represents a new client engagement.
• A plan, assessment, or calculator can all be a part of an engagement. If you choose, you can create multiple plans, assessments, and/or calculators for a single engagement. You, your colleagues, and your clients can then choose which one will be implemented.
• A client file MUST contain at least one engagement.

1. From the Plans container, click New.
2. Follow the steps for plan creation.

• On the Plans page, you will find a series of tabs containing the date of all previous engagements for a client file. Click the tab that shows the date of the engagement you want to review.

1. Select the assessment or plan you wish to promote. Calculators cannot be promoted.
2. Click Plan Options.
3. On the Select Plan Options page, select Promote Plan and then click Next.
4. Select a new plan level from the list, and then click OK.
   Note: When promoting to a Level 2 plan, items that are left blank or contain zero values are deleted from the new plan.

1. Select the plan or assessment that you wish to project.
2. Click Plan Options.
3. On the Select Plan Options page, select Promote Plan and then click Next.
4. You are now presented with three options:
   • Project plan into current engagement: Select this option to project the plan to the current year and add it to most the current engagement.
   • Select an engagement to project into: Select this option to project the plan to the current year and add it to a particular engagement.
   • Project plan into a new engagement: Select this option to project the plan to the current year and add it to a new engagement.
5. When you are satisfied with these options, click Finish.

1. Select a plan to update and click Plan Options.
   Note: Only plans in Approved, Delivered, Progress-Approved, or Progress-Delivered status can be updated. This feature is available for Level 1 and Level 2 plans only.
2. On the Select Plan Options screen, select Create Progress Plan.
3. If the plan date of the Approved or Delivered plan is different than the current date, you will be prompted to project to the current date or a selected date.
4. Click Finish.
5. Update any figures from the categories beneath Enter Financial Data that have changed in the most recent review period.
6. Click Client Reports to build and generate a Progress Report.
7. Click Select Plan Data For Reports… to optionally include more than one historical plan if you choose to use the Historical Net Worth and/or Historical Cash Flow Progress pages. The most recent historical plan is automatically included.

• Select the plan or assessment you wish to view and click History.

Use the workflow process to move a draft plan or assessment through a series of steps to Approved status. The steps in the process depend on your assigned planner type, the plan or assessment contents, and your permissions. You can view the current status of a plan or assessment on the Workflow section – Status category – Status page.

• Select a draft plan or assessment, and click Workflow.

To publish a plan to Narrator Clients powered by NaviPlan you will first need to approve your plan.

1. Click the Mark As Delivered button, this will convert the Approved plan into a Delivered plan.
2. Once converted into a Delivered plan, click the, now selectable, Publish button.
3. A Publish to Narrator Clients pop-up will open, after confirming the client information is correct, and that you wish to send an email to the client's email. Click OK. Data will be transferred to Narrator powered by NaviPlan for client review.

• The list can be sorted by click any of the following column headings:
  • Description
  • Plan Year
  • Type
  • ID
  • Modified Date
  • Status
• The list will be sorted in ascending order with respect to the column clicked. Clicking the same heading a second time will sort the list in descending order.

1. Select a plan, assessment, or calculator and click Notes.
2. Add any text you wish.
3. Click OK.

• This is the plan's current status; a plan may have any of the following statuses:
  • Draft: The initial status in the plan or assessment life cycle. A plan or assessment is in Draft status when it is created and as initial data is entered.
  • Proposed: The plan or assessment is ready to be reviewed by a person with plan-approval authority. A planner cannot modify or delete a plan or assessment in this status.
  • Rejected: The plan or assessment is unacceptable and cannot be implemented. Only authorized users can reject a plan or assessment. A rejected plan or assessment can be modified to correct any problems. Once modified, the plan or assessment can be proposed again for approval.
  • Approved: The plan or assessment is acceptable and can be implemented. Approved plans or assessments cannot be modified or deleted. Only authorized users can approve a plan or assessment. There can only be one approved plan or assessment per engagement.
  • Update: An approved plan or assessment that is periodically reviewed to ensure that its goals continue to be met. For the first update, an approved plan or assessment is duplicated and moved to Update status. For subsequent updates, the last updated version is duplicated and moved back to Draft status. This creates an update chain for reference.
    Note: Only existing plans from previous versions of NaviPlan Select can have the Update status.
