Planning Objectives
What is an asset allocation model? Why would I want to change from the default model?
- An asset allocation model is a term that describes a collection of asset classes, correlations, and investor profiles. In NaviPlan, the model you select for a plan defines which asset classes are available to you.
- Changing your asset allocation model may open new options to you (depending on the models selected) including tax-sensitive and alternative investment classes.
Procedures
How do I specify the default rebalancing method for assets?
- From the Asset Allocation tab, select either Current — Rebalanced or Current — Not Rebalanced.
- Current - Rebalanced: NaviPlan assumes the accounts are balanced regularly to maintain their asset allocation and applies the weighted average rate of return to assets that are linked to goals.
- Current - Not Rebalanced: NaviPlan assumes the portfolio is never rebalanced and that each account linked to a goal earns its separate rate of return.
